I registered and found out that I am unable to attend. Can I get a refund for the event?
No, all entry fees are non-refundable. There are no exceptions. If you are unable to make it to the event, you are still invited to attend packet pick-up and receive this year's fantastic giveaways.
Where is packet pick-up?
Packet pickup will be held at the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany (150 W. Main St. New Albany, OH 43054) on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Can I pick up my packet the morning of the Walking Classic?
No, there will be no packet pick-up on race day. Packets are only available during packet pick-up. You are welcome to send a friend or family member with your valid driver's license (or a copy) to get your packet.
If I am not able to pick up my packet during packet pick-up can I get it after the race is over?
No, race packets are only available during the designated times of packet pick-up listed above. You are welcome to send a friend or family member with your valid driver's license (or a copy) to get your packet.
Can I pick up someone else's race packet?
Yes. You must show a valid driver's license (or a copy) for each person's race packet that you are picking up.
Are strollers and pets permitted in the Walk?
No, Baby Joggers, baby carriers, bicycles, scooters, strollers, roller skates and roller blades are not permitted in the Walking Classic due to safety reasons. Pets are not permitted. Unofficial support bikers are also not permitted.
Is there entertainment along the course?
Yes, DJs and bands are stationed throughout the course.
Can I give my entry to a friend if I cannot participate?
No. Each participant must register himself/herself and sign his/her own waiver. Anyone who participates with another person's bib number will be disqualified. For the safety of the participants it is imperative that the registration data is associated with the race participant. If the race staff becomes aware that someone else has participated in the event with a bib that is not registered to him or her, both the participant and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating.
Is there a time limit on the course?
Yes, you must maintain a 18 minute-per-mile pace on the course. If you are unable to maintain that pace when you reach mile 2, you will be asked to finish the event on the sidewalk/path so that the streets can re-open to traffic, or be given a ride back to the finish line.
Can children participate?
Yes. Provided they are able to walk the entire 10k (6.21 miles) or 5k (3.1 miles) course and maintain a 18 minute-per-mile pace. All children participating must be registered and wear a race bib.
What is the cancellation policy?
The New Albany Walking Classic®, in accordance with management staff, city officials and local law enforcement has the authority to cancel the event for emergency purposes such as, but not limited to, inclement weather or threat of terrorism. If such emergency conditions force cancellation, refunds will not be provided as a large portion of proceeds are spent in preparation for race day. New Albany Walking Classic® staff will make every effort to inform participants as soon as possible in the event of a cancellation.
Can a non-participant cross the finish line with me?
No. We share in the joy of your accomplishment as you near the finish line; however, for your safety and the safety fellow participants around you, any other person that has not registered for the New Albany Walking Classic® is not permitted to cross or meet you at the finish line. They are welcome to meet you just outside the finish line gates in Market Square!
Do you have water and portable toilets on the course?
Yes, the water stops will be available in the same vicinity as portable toilets.
Can I change the size of my garment?
Yes, you can log into RUNSIGNUP and go into your Walk registration to update your size any time before August 16, 2024 based on availability.
