New Albany Walking Classic Overview



Time and Place – The New Albany Walking Classic will take place on Sunday morning, September 21, 2008 starting and finishing on Market Square in downtown New Albany, Ohio. The Classic will consist of two distances – a 10K walk (6.2 miles) and a half marathon walk (13.1 miles). Participants in each distance will start at the same time with the half marathon course branching off at around Mile 6. See the map of the routes.

Registered Walkers – Race polices, course maps, and much more information can be found at this site as new information is made available.

Awards – The top five overall men and women in each event will receive beautiful awards. Three awards will be given to the top female and male finishers in the following age groups for each event: Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+. Every walker who crosses the finish line will receive a specially-designed race medal. Each finisher will receive a medal that is specific to the distance walked. You must wear your ankle chip when you cross the finish line to be eligible to receive your medal. Chips are to be picked up at the event site on the morning of the event. Check in will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 8:30.

Entry Fee – Registration fees are as follows:
$25 for 10K entries received before June 1, 2008.
$30 for 10K entries received on or after June 1, 2008.
$30 for half marathon entries received before June 1, 2008.
$35 for half marathon entries received on or after June 1, 2008.
Entries to the Classic are limited to the first 3500 overall registrants. A maximum of 1000 participants will be permitted in the half marathon.

Packet Pick-up Information – Packet pick up will be available at the Mount Carmel Health & Fitness Expo to be held at the newly constructed Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts. Packet pick up dates and times are as follows:
Friday, September 19 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM
Saturday, September 20 from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM

*** All packets which consist of your race bib number and fleece/nylon jacket MUST be picked up at the Expo at the above mentioned dates and times. Absolutely no race packets will be distributed on race day or at any time thereafter.
